“I don’t know what I would do without my Quha Zono 2”

I’m a 55 year-old C4-C5 quadriplegic since a football injury when I was 15. The amount of technological improvements that have occurred over the decades have substantially improved my ability to do things independently. I started using a Headmaster Plus headmouse almost immediately after I was injured with my MacIntosh Plus. Eventually I came across an early version AssistiveWare’s on-screen keyboard KeyStrokes. The combination of that and the Headmaster Plus really opened things up for me.

Eventually the Headmaster Plus was discontinued and I started looking for a replacement. That’s when I came across the Quha Zono. I was able to try one out using their loan program and I immediately fell in love with it. It worked just as well as the Headmaster Plus and there were no wires anymore which was, and still is, awesome! I’ve now been using the Quha Zono for around a decade, starting with the Quha Zono before moving on to the Quha Zono 2.

I still use an onscreen keyboard but now it’s Apple built-in solution, which is actually strongly influenced by AssistiveWare’s now defunct KeyStrokes on-screen keyboard. Apple actually wanted feedback from long time KeyStrokes users to make their built-in solution comparable to what KeyStrokes offered. I was one of those that provided such feedback. And just like before the Quha Zono and now Apple’s built in on screen keyboard make a great combination and allow me to get a lot done on my computer.

My Quha Zono 2 is probably the most important piece of equipment I have besides my wheelchair. I mostly use it with my MacBook Pro but occasionally use it with my iPad as well. I can pay my bills, fill out forms, browse the web, make music, and play games, among many things. Without it I would have a difficult time doing any of those things on my computer. I also use my computer to communicate with others via email, text, and social media. So the Quha Zono 2 is sort of a key to substantially opening up the rest of the world to me.

I don’t know what I would do without my Quha Zono 2. I highly recommend it for anyone that cannot use a stranded mouse and has at least a little bit of head movement. And since they added gestures, like to zoom in and zoom out, it’s now more capable than ever. I hope to get the Quha Zono X in the near future to gain the ability to seamlessly switch between my laptop, iPad, and iPhone since it uses Bluetooth and doesn’t rely on a dongle.

I look forward so any future products that Quha has in store!
